The Passion Pit is the jam, son!

Summer doesn't kick-in here at fortress San Francisco until the end of September. In the meantime, we have a wacky and temperamental version of the season. It's 50 degrees at night and foggy half the time...The intermittent gloom has not infected my first SUMMER SOUNDS MIXTAPE!!! though. Enjoy it the way we can't: sun + sweat + syrupy drink.

Hardly Art has done it again. Check out the southern sounding Moondoggies for a serious band with a silly name.

As Caleb so eloquently states, Passion Pit is indeed the jam. Their "Chunk of Change" EP is maybe my favorite release so far this year.

My list is comprised of some older tracks, many of which I had never heard before. I compiled it one evening by starting with TV on The Radio and clicking 'I like this' on the music player whenever I ran across something interesting.

I impart these songs to you as I would if I was on the cover of Sonic Youth's "Goo"--I'd saunter by all murderous and leather-jacket clad, my sister's boyfriend on my arm, both of us ensconced in a cloud of cigarette smoke. I'd reach into the lining of my jacket and pull out a burnt CD, chuck it at you all "FUCK YOU" and wink, "sample my wares". I don't know. These songs just make me feel that cool.
